Meet Charlotte

Charlotte Benz is an extraordinary artist whose vibrant, whimsical cat paintings have captivated audiences worldwide. Growing up on the picturesque Isle of Wight, Charlotte’s life was imbued with creativity and a profound connection to the natural world. Her love for the ocean and Mother Nature often finds its way into her art, enriching her feline subjects with a unique, enchanting backdrop.

From a young age, Charlotte was deeply connected to the feline world. Her childhood was spent in the company of her beloved tuxedo cat, Smartie, who inspired countless drawings and stories. This early bond with Smartie laid the foundation for a lifelong passion for cats, which continues to be the heart and soul of her artistic expression.

Charlotte’s upbringing in a creatively supportive family nurtured her artistic talents. She excelled in her art GCSE and A-Levels, earning top grades and an unconditional university offer to study art. However, her passion for musical theatre led her to the Guildford School of Acting, where she earned a BA Honours Degree. She further honed her creative skills with a Masters degree in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University, graduating with distinction. Charlotte’s diverse educational background also includes over 20 years of teaching Drama and Theatre Studies, where she has inspired countless students with her creativity and enthusiasm.

Despite her varied career, Charlotte’s love for art and cats remained a constant. She dedicates her free time to painting, infusing each piece with joy, laughter, and inspiration. Her distinctive style features expressive, vibrant cats engaged in delightful activities, often accompanied by symbolic elements and bold, captivating colors. These elements reflect her artistic philosophy and her intent to bring happiness to her audience.

Charlotte’s work has garnered international acclaim, with her original paintings, high-quality prints, greeting cards, and other merchandise being cherished by cat lovers around the globe. Her paintings are a testament to her talent and her deep affection for her feline companions. Notably, her beloved cat Moo Moo, who recently passed, is immortalized in the poignant piece “Tranquil Kitty,” ensuring that Moo Moo’s memory lives on through her art.

Now residing on the stunning coast of North Wales, Charlotte lives with her partner, Philip, and their three children, Sophia, Leonardo, and Seren. The family’s home is further enlivened by their two cats, Trixibelle and Dexter. Charlotte’s art continues to thrive in this inspiring environment, where the sea and mountains provide a breathtaking backdrop for her creative endeavors.
